On Saturday (11), the colt Fantastic Beduino WA had already stood out from the others by winning his trial with great ease, always in front of his rivals from the break and establishing the fastest qualifying time, stopping the clock in 17.462 seconds. The performance of the 577-kg (1.272 lbs) chestnut was truly above average, which placed him as the horse everyone would later try to defeat.

Piloted by the experienced jockey Ari Andrade, Fantastic Beduino WA did not have an easy final as many might have imagined. But he broke already battling for the lead against Only a Dream PK, his main rival during the running, with Granite Surprise and Hadassa Vista tracking closely.

He never gave in and remained in front until the finish line, this time stopping the clock in 17.498 seconds, becoming the 2026 Brazilian Futurity champion and writing a chapter that will remain forever in this South American Group 1 event.

That is because Roberto Sylvio Abdalla, CEO of Haras Fazenda Regina, became a three-time champion of the Quarter Horse competition with the highest total purse in Brazil. Before that, he had won the race with Chicks Tolltac WA in 2006 and Genoma Lake WA in 2018. All of those trophies were achieved as breeder and owner as well, crowning him as the greatest name in the history of this race.

Trainer I. Nascimento, popularly known as “Guaxinim,” is recording a magnificent start to the season in Sorocaba. Leader of the standings by Wins (12) and by purse earnings (more than R$ 913,000), he won 4 of the 5 races contested, finishing at least a finalist in every race.

His successes were achieved through eight different colts and fillies. When considering only the freshman crop, his mark reaches 100% efficiency, with titles in the GP Torneio Início, Super Sprint, and Brazilian Futurity (the first of his career), placing him with extraordinary early records.

For jockey Ari Andrade, it carries a meaning of great overcoming that seals his comeback after a difficult period lived in recent years. “That title was the only one missing in my career. I want to thank God, Abdalla, and everyone on our team,” said the professional.

By Fantastic Corona Jr (a two-time Brazilian champion sire), therefore a grandson of Corona Cartel, Fantastic Beduino WA is out of the broodmare Cristal Granite (by Granite Lake). He now records 2 wins in 2 starts, with an attained SI-98.

The 2026 Brazilian Futurity had the colt Only a Dream PK (Corona For Me x Nordika Only PK, by Nordick Only VM) as runner-up. Bred by Luciana Scarano Kiehl; owned by Haras Maria Clara and Mariana Jubran. Trained by S. Sampaio, he was piloted by jockey C. Medina. Finishing in the following positions were Granite Surprise (3rd), Hadassa Vista (4th), Tequila Fantast STM (5th), and Olinda Desirio AD (6th).

GP SUPER SPRINT
Not enough with having won the richest Quarter Horse race in Brazil, Roberto Sylvio Abdalla also captured on that same Sunday (12) the title of the GP Super Sprint, being the owner of Expresso Lake STM, a colt bred by Haras Santa Maria.

The competition, contested at a distance of 300 yards, carried a total purse of R$ 225,000 (equivalent to US$ 45,000). The final featured four participants and had the winner stopping the clock in 15.363 seconds, attaining SI-94. Jockey Vicente Barros guided the champion, who is trained by I. And the unforgettable April 12, 2026, for the colors of Roberto Sylvio Abdalla did not stop there. Besides the two main Stakes titles contested, he also captured the Torneio Especial Haras Portofino with the filly Nazca Perfection JQM (Desirio - Louisiana Perfection, by Jess Louisiana Blue), bred by Haras Jaguaruana, who recorded SI-98, the highest of the day.

“It truly was an indescribable and unforgettable weekend! First of all, by running 5 races with horses from my barn and winning all 5,” said Roberto Sylvio Abdalla. “We started with Nazca Perfection JQM winning the Torneio Especial Haras Portofino with a spectacular mark of 15.221 seconds at 300 yards.”

“Also, the victory in the GP Super Sprint ‘Sylvio Wagih Abdalla’ with Expresso Lake STM was a very special goal, because it is a race that carries the name of my late father. And finally, winning the GP Brazilian Futurity for the 3rd time as breeder and owner, we entered history with an achievement never before reached. Fantastic Beduino, affectionately nicknamed ‘The Predestined One,’ showed on the racetrack an entire tradition of 44 years of the WA brand.”

“Winning is already difficult; now the race with the highest purse in Latin America is much more difficult. Only to thank God, my family, Team WA, sponsors, friends, and supporters. We move forward because we still have other battles ahead and always with God in our hearts,” Abdalla concluded in an exclusive interview with StallioneSearch.

The richest race in Brazilian Quarter Horse racing is sponsored by Haras Portofino, which also maintains breeding and ownership connections in the United States. In Brazil, it held another edition of its traditional sale, where it offered to the market colts and fillies by Flying Cowboy 123, One Famous Eagle, Teller Cartel, Jess Good Candy, Corona Jumpim MRL, KVN Corona, Grand Eagle AZZ... in crosses with great producing mares, highlighted by White Zoom (by Shazoom), one of the greatest producers of all time in South America.
