VINTON, LA–May 9, 2026—San Lorenzo Luna rallied strongly through the final strides Saturday night to capture the $33,600 Mother’s Day Stakes at Delta Downs under leading jockey Leonardo Rodriguez.

The 350-yard stakes for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward was contested over a sloppy sealed racetrack with a 10 mph headwind. San Lorenzo Luna stopped the clock in :17.888 while earning an 88 speed index.

Breaking from the outside post, San Lorenzo Luna closed late to defeat Usxpress by a neck while wagering favorite JJ Jessa Dynasty held third, another neck back.

The four-year-old filly was bred and is owned by Rogelio Marquez Jr. and trained by Juan Garcia. Sired by Coronas Leaving You and out of the stakes-winning Heza Fast Dash mare Dashnunder Afullmoon, San Lorenzo Luna comes from one of Louisiana Quarter Horse racing’s strongest female families.
