Kvn Dulce Corona Tops Spring Classic Maiden Frolic Qualifiers at Pocatello Downs

POCATELLO, ID–MAY 10, 2026–Kvn Dulce Corona surged to the top qualifying mark Sunday afternoon as Pocatello Downs hosted three trial heats for the $10,000-added Spring Classic Maiden Frolic for 3-year-olds and older maidens at 300 yards.

Owned and bred in Colorado by Jose Pena, Kvn Dulce Corona stopped the timer in :15.749 seconds while posting a 91 speed index, the fastest time from the three trial races. Under jockey Jose Juan Olivo, the 5-year-old gray mare defeated Rm Cartel Dash by 1-1/2 lengths in the opening trial.

Conditioned by Kylie Valenzuela, Kvn Dulce Corona is by champion sire Kvn Corona and out of Wess Country Chick, by Country Chicks Man. The mare broke sharply and "flew from the gates," according to Equibase chart notes, to establish the fastest qualifying mark for the May 25 final.

The second-fastest qualifier was Rr Coronassecretgold, who won the third trial in a time of :15.778 with a 90 speed index for owner Wade Ward. Trained by Tony Hyde and ridden by Luis Cruz Ruiz, the sorrel colt is by champion Hez Our Secret from the Corona Cartel mare Giving Freely.

Bred in Oklahoma by Reliance Ranches LLC, Rr Coronassecretgold broke alertly before holding on for a three-quarter length victory in his trial. The colt sold for $6,500 at the 2026 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale.

Thought It Deluxe recorded the third-fastest qualifying time after capturing the second trial in :15.894 seconds while earning an 86 speed index. The sorrel gelding races for breeder-owner Jorge Murillo and is trained by Jose A. Pulido.

Ridden by Jose Juan Olivo, Thought It Deluxe is by multiple stakes winner Eagle Deluxe and out of Thought It Through, by Foose. The Idaho-bred gelding broke sharply from the rail and held sway throughout to secure his berth in the final.
