Chilitos Sires Top Four Qualifiers in Colors of Houston Futurity Trials

Chilitos Sires Top Four Qualifiers in Colors of Houston Futurity Trials

HOUSTON, TX–MAY 21, 2026–Stallion Chilitos completely dominated the Grade 2 Colors of Houston Futurity Trials on Thursday night at Sam Houston Race Park, siring the top four fastest qualifiers from the two trial heats contested for Paint and Appaloosa juveniles. The ten fastest qualifiers will return for the June 6 Colors of Houston Futurity final, while the next ten fastest qualifiers advance to the $15,000 Colors of Houston Juvenile.

Miss Chilitos led the impressive sire performance, posting the fastest qualifying time of the night while winning the second and final trial in 15.405 seconds for a 97 speed index. Under jockey Oliver Martinez, the filly exploded late to defeat TC Abanero by three-quarters of a length.

Bred by Connie Nobles and owned by Edgar Rivera Hernandez, Miss Chilitos is trained by Jose Martinez. The $13,500 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate is out of the Stoli mare Tahiti Evening, a full sister to Grade 1 All American Derby winner Dont Let Down, earner of $697,769. Her second dam is stakes winner Babe On The Beach, who earned $193,302.

The victory marked the second win from three starts for the talented filly.

TC Abanero earned the second-fastest qualifying mark after finishing a strong second to Miss Chilitos in the final trial. The colt stopped the clock in 15.553 seconds for a 92 speed index in his career debut.

Ridden by Nestor Duran, TC Abanero was bred by Toribio Carillo and is owned by Chile Piquin Partnership and trained by Zackery Rios. The $12,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate is also by Chilitos and out of the First Moonflash mare Take Of Helene FMF. His female family traces back to Dam of Distinction Thewayouwantmetoo ($327,953), champion A Revenant ($604,800), and champion Famous Shininh Star ($211,873).

Juan Leon homebred filly JVM Hot Victoria secured the third-fastest qualifying time after winning the opening trial under Rosendo Pina Garcia. The undefeated daughter of Chilitos covered the 300 yards in 15.592 seconds for a 91 speed index while winning by one length.

Trained by Wendy Alejandra Garcia, JVM Hot Victoria was a $7,500 repurchase at the TQHA Yearling Sale and is out of the Gol To Go mare Victoria Camila. The filly has now won both career starts.

Leading the field for the $15,000 Colors of Houston Juvenile was This Cowboys An Eagle, who finished fifth in the final trial after recording a time of 15.919 seconds and an 80 speed index.

The colt was bred by Sandra Garnett and is owned by Jesus Molina and trained by Joseph Manucy. Sired by This Is An Eagle and out of the Awesome Chrome mare Camo Cowgirl, This Cowboys An Eagle was making just his second career start and headlines the Juvenile field set for June 6.
