Chew Bac Cah Springs 21-1 Upset In Heritage Place Oaks at Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 30, 2026—Chew Bac Cah outran her 21-1 odds and delivered a surprise victory Saturday night in the $373,800 Heritage Place Oaks at Remington Park, covering 400 yards in 19.661 while earning a 93 speed index.

The sorrel filly broke sharply under jockey Ramiro Garcia and maintained her advantage throughout the stretch, holding off Wera C by one-half length at the wire. The final margin from runner-up Wera C to third-place Flying Policy 123 was a neck. Chew Bac Cah earned $156,996 for the victory.

Bred in Iowa by Lunderborg LLC, Chew Bac Cah is a 3-year-old daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess out of Paint Or More, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. She is owned by Lunderborg LLC and trained by Jason Olmstead. Equibase chart comments noted that the filly got a “quick break” and was “held” to the finish.

Chew Bac Cah is a sister to multiple stakes winners Dickey Bob ($529,119), Pyc Jess Bite My Dust ($274,662) and Jess Rocket Man ($250648).

A seven-time winner in 11 starts, Chew Bac Cah has banked $296,586 with additional wins that included last season's Hawkeye Futurity at Prairie Meadows.

Wera C finished second and collected $63,546. The sorrel filly by leading sire Flying Cowboy 123 out of Pillow Talk, by One Dashing Eagle, was bred in Texas by Ellis H. Hank Bird. She races for CH Horse Racing, LLC, is trained by Marco Chavez-Gutierrez, and was ridden by Jesus Ayala.

Wera C was offered at the 2026 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale, where she was reported as an RNA (reserve not attained) at $50,000. She has won three of nine starts and banked $177,315.

Flying Policy 123 completed the trifecta and earned $44,856. Also, by Flying Cowboy 123 from the Tres Seis mare BP Tres Seis Policy was bred in Oklahoma by Bill Price. Owned by Clay Seal, trained by Justin Joiner, and ridden by Mario Delgado, she dueled throughout before settling for third. The multiple graded stakes-placed filly has earned $236,085.

Emerald Bay finished fourth, followed by Toby Sis in fifth, Sunshining in sixth, Jess Want To Know in seventh, Where Is Queen B in eighth, Mamma Im Leaving You in ninth, and Honey Creek in tenth.

The Heritage Place Oaks was contested over a fast racing surface before a crowd at Remington Park, with Chew Bac Cah producing one of the evening’s biggest upsets while securing the richest victory of her career.

The Heritage Place Oaks produced several lucrative pari-mutuel payouts, led by 21-1 upset winner Chew Bac Cah. A $2 win ticket on the Jason Olmstead-trained filly returned $44.00, while place and show payoffs were $15.00 and $12.00, respectively. Runner-up Wera C paid $6.80 to place and $4.60 to show, while third-place finisher Flying Policy 123 returned $7.40 to show. The $2 Exacta featuring Chew Bac Cah over Wera C paid $268.00. Bettors who correctly selected the top three finishers collected $511.40 on the 50-cent Trifecta, while the 10-cent Superfecta of Chew Bac Cah, Wera C, Flying Policy 123, and Emerald Bay returned $471.11. Multi-race wagers also paid well, with the 50-cent Pick 3 worth $123.00 and the 50-cent Pick 4 returning $502.50.
