AJAX, CAN–JUNE 3, 2026–Two trials were contested on June 3 at Ajax Downs for the $30,000-added Unclassified NB 79 Maturity, restricted to horses aged three and older that have never recorded a Speed Index higher than 79. The ten fastest qualifiers from the two trials will return for the final on June 21.

Leading all qualifiers was Haaave You Met Karma, who stopped the clock in :17.207 seconds for a Speed Index of 89 while rallying strongly under jockey Cassandra Jeschke. The gray filly was bred by Scott Reid and Carly Furlonger and is owned by Scott Reid and Colleen McCracken.

Scott Reid also trains the daughter of Makin An Effort out of the winning Mr Eye Opener mare Squincheyes. The Ontario-bred now sports a record of 5-1-1-1 with earnings of $11,328. Still seeking her first stakes victory, she was a finalist in last year's Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity.

Ariche secured the second-fastest qualifying time after finishing just a head behind the winner in :17.223 seconds. Ridden by Jose Nabor Cruz, the gelding was bred by MRB Racing LLC and is owned and trained by Joe Tavares.

A $10,700 graduate of the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale, Ariche is sired by A Royal Jess and out of the Corona Cartel mare First Place Cartel. He is a half-brother to graded stakes winner Crispyn ($316,468), while second dam First Regards was a champion who earned $277,270. The gelding now has a record of 10-0-1-2 with earnings of $7,411 and entered the trials off a fourth-place effort in the QROOI Open Derby.

Claiming the third-fastest qualifying mark was Thirty Ought Six, who completed the 330 yards in :17.279 seconds under Cristian Benitez. The gelding was bred by Shaun Hubbard, is owned by Sharon Pascoe, and trained by Jason Pascoe.

A $10,500 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale graduate, Thirty Ought Six is by Bolt Of Fire and out of the stakes-winning Favorite Cartel mare Fernweh ($558,611). He is a half-brother to stakes winner Ur Favorite Tio ($68,431), while second dam Jess A Lil Bit More earned $145,165 and was also a stakes winner. Thirty Ought Six now holds a race record of 4-0-0-2 with earnings exceeding $2,000.
