SOROCABA, BRAZIL–JUNE 5, 2026–With active participation in racing throughout the United States, Haras Portofino continues to expand the success of its breeding and ownership program in Brazil.
Ucrânia Jumpim MRL represents the early success of stallion Corona Jumpim MRL, who still has relatively few runners competing but is already producing impressive results. Descended from the recently deceased Corona For Me, the multiple stakes-winning performer in both Brazil and the United States, is considered a strong candidate to establish a new genetic legacy.
Carrying a body weight of 1,148 pounds (521 kg), Ucrânia Jumpim MRL won Trial 2 of the Sorocaba Futurity on May 16, defeating Fire Fantastic STM, Hungary Vista, and Mustang For Me HJS. She covered the 350-yard distance in 17.415 seconds, posting the fastest qualifying time among all trials, which featured a total of 15 two-year-old colts and fillies competing for a purse of R$225,000 (approximately US$45,000).

Indeed, the highly regarded rival immediately showed why she was considered a major contender, breaking sharply and opening an advantage shortly after the start. Ucrânia Jumpim MRL did everything possible to keep her within reach. In the final stages of the race, the Haras Portofino representative displayed a superior finishing kick and surged past Red Run Lake with an incredible late rally, scoring a brilliant victory.

During the current season alone, he has captured four major stakes titles for the freshman crop: the Torneio Início, Super Sprint, Brazilian Futurity, and Sorocaba Futurity, all with different runners. That does not include several notable placings and outstanding performances, such as the R$1,000,000 Megarace (approximately US$200,000), contested during the same weekend, where he finished second with Expresso Lake STM.

"Both in the trial and in the final, I simply let her run and tried not to get in her way. She knows what to do," said the rider.
Haras Portofino became a two-time winner of the Sorocaba Futurity. In 2018, the operation captured the race with Corona Daytona MRL, who established a new 350-yard track record at the time with a clocking of 17.210 seconds. She later became a proven producer, with her daughter Daytona Eagle MRL (by One Famous Eagle) winning the 2023 Brazilian Futurity.

Her long-bodied physique, her size, her color, and, above all, her ability to perform at a high level in races beyond 300 meters, with a very strong run and a powerful, decisive finish," he added.

Ucrânia is only getting started and has a tremendous future ahead of her both on the racetrack and later as a broodmare," concluded the CEO of Haras Portofino.
Ucrânia Jumpim MRL now owns a record of three wins from four starts, with earnings totaling R$127,500 (approximately US$25,000), making her the leading two-year-old filly in the 2026 standings at Jockey Club de Sorocaba.
Red Run Lake finished as runner-up in the 2026 Sorocaba Futurity. By Granite Lake and Bikini Jess JNN (by Mr Jess Perry), she is trained by M. Artemam and was ridden by jockey Vitor Barros. She was bred by Haras Prata and races for Stud GPI.
Finishing third was Meteoro Corona WA, owned by Hugo Padilha. The colt, trained by J. Tavares and ridden by jockey J. D. Pereira, is by Louisiana Senator and out of Infinity Corona HF (by Corona For Me). He was bred by Roberto Sylvio Abdalla.
Brazilian Bikini completed the superfecta in fourth. A full sister to runner-up Red Run Lake, the filly from Haras Uruguaiana gave her connections a scare when she slipped during the opening strides of the race, though she escaped injury. The incident compromised her overall performance. She is trained by A. J. Macedo and was ridden by J. M. Silva.
