EVANSTON, WY–JUNE 7, 2026–Four trials were contested Sunday at Wyoming Downs for the 307 Horse Racing Open Maturity, with the ten fastest qualifiers advancing to the $50,000 final scheduled for June 21. The event is restricted to horses four years old and older competing at 400 yards.
Mysterious Cartel topped the qualifier list with a dominant victory in the opening trial under Cesar Moreno. Breaking sharply from the gate, the gelding quickly opened daylight and proved much the best, drawing away to score by 1½ lengths while stopping the clock in :19.486 and earning a 106 speed index.
Owned by Luis Gonzalez and trained by Adrian Zavala, Mysterious Cartel was bred by J/R Robicheaux and Spanish Moss Quarter Horses. The $31,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate is sired by champion Five Bar Cartel and out of the Valiant Hero mare Mysterious Night. His female family is packed with black-type performers, including Dam of Distinction Pandorum ($70,437).
The four-year-old gelding now owns a record of 19-8-7-2 with earnings of $199,661. The victory was his third consecutive score after ending his 2025 campaign with a win in the Grade 3 AQHA Derby Challenge Championship. He has also hit the board in six additional stakes races.
Uncle Willard finished second behind Mysterious Cartel to secure the second-fastest qualifying time. Under Jacob Cardenas, the gelding rallied from near the back of the pack and was clearly best of the rest while posting a :19.725 clocking and a 99 speed index.
The homebred races for owner Ralph Young and is trained by Jess Matt. Sired by champion Uncle D and out of the stakes-winning Jess My Moon mare Jessflipacoin, Uncle Willard now sports a record of 6-2-2-0 with earnings of $15,982.
RLH Fouronthefloor captured the third trial to earn the third-fastest qualifying mark. Piloted by Jesus Canales, the six-year-old gelding went gate-to-wire and drew away late to win by 1¾ lengths while stopping the timer in :19.728 with a 99 speed index.
Owned by Michael McKell and trained by Sergio Canales, RLH Fouronthefloor was bred by R.L. Harrison. The son of Jess Got Easier is out of the Saint Shackleton mare SP Saint Patty. Already an accomplished stakes performer, he owns victories in the Casino at the Downs Stakes and has been stakes-placed multiple times.
The win improved his career record to 19-8-4-2 with earnings of $83,643.
The 307 Horse Racing Open Maturity final will be contested June 21 at Wyoming Downs with a $50,000 purse on the line.
