ALBUQUERQUE, NM–JUNE 14, 2026–Baby Daddy Cartel defeated Imma Dandy by a neck in the Grade 2 $309,521 Mountain Top New Mexico Bred Futurity on Sunday at The Downs at Albuquerque.
Ridden by Noe Garcia Jr. for owner Tungsten Racing Partnership and trainer Omar Vargas, Baby Daddy Cartel covered 350 yards in :16.896 while earning a 107 speed index. The gelding is bred by Paul Cervantes and is sired by Big Daddy Cartel out of the First Moonflash mare Startedwithawhisper.
The victory improved his record to 4-3-0-1 and increased his earnings to $183,889. The $129,999 winner's share of the purse was his third consecutive victory following wins in his trial and the New Mexican Spring Fling Stakes.
Imma Dandy finished second under Oscar Andrade Jr. for owners Scott Branson and Jimmy Vasquez and trainer David Gomez-Barraza. Bred by Jimmy and Angela Vasquez, the gelding is a $17,000 repurchase from the Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Sale.
He is by champion Prospect To The Top and out of the stakes-winning Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Saying ($185,715). His female family includes champion Separate Fire ($631,250).
Imma Dandy now has a record of 4-2-1-1 with earnings of $78,486.
Sand And Sea finished third under Joseph Belloc Jr. for owners Kim Middleton, Denis and Julie Schoenhofer, and trainer James Gonzales III. Bred by MJ Farms, the filly is a $58,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate.
She is by Big Daddy Cartel and out of the stakes-winning Ocean Runaway mare Ms Riptide ($68,418). Sand And Sea is a full sister to Nineteen Crimes ($70,130), while second dam Sixes Ms Perry was a graded stakes winner.
Making just her second career start, Sand And Sea increased her earnings to $32,952.
Bridger finished fourth and was followed by Bigg Twist, Felton Road, Daddys China, Perrys Alibi, Shafer and Cartel Stars.
Earlier on the card, Jess A Corona Dash won the $50,000 Mountain Top New Mexico Bred Juvenile. Ridden by Jordy Muniz for owner Pavon Racing LLC and trainer Omar Vargas, the filly defeated Bogarts Dreamgirl by a neck while covering 350 yards in :17.147.
Bred by Mike and Yealonda Logan, Jess A Corona Dash is a $50,000 Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Sale graduate. The daughter of Big Daddy Cartel is out of the Tempting Dash mare Tempt Me Honey.
