Why Fritz, ridden by Jesus Loredo posted the fastest qualifying time for the $86,047 Subasta Selecta Derby final at Hipodromo de Las Americas.

MEXICO CITY, MX–JUNE 14, 2026–Why Fritz turned in the fastest qualifying time from two trials Sunday at Hipodromo de Las Americas, winning the second trial for the $86,047 Subasta Selecta Derby by three-quarters of a length.

Ridden by Jesus Loredo for trainer Gregorio Razo, Why Fritz covered 400 yards in :19.786 while earning a 90 speed index. The 3-year-old colt races for Cuadra Tarascos and has now won five of 12 starts with earnings of $42,000.

Bred by Rachuan Suarez, the son of Fearless Fritz is out of Bv Why Not Me by Tres Seis. A multiple stakes finalist in last year’s Mexican Breeders Futurity and Subasta Selecta Futurity, Why Fritz will be seeking his first stakes victory in the June 28 final.

Aliredo Dynasty finished second to Why Fritz and earned the second-fastest qualifying time of :19.874. The Fearless Fritz gelding is trained by Alejandro Gutierrez for owner Cuadra Chiconcuac. He has compiled a record of one win, three seconds and five thirds from 14 starts with earnings of more than $12,000.

Also bred by Rachuan Suarez, Aliredo Dynasty is out of Bp Take Your Dynasty by FDD Dynasty.

Piloted by Arturo Vega Moreno, Kc Shes Cartel won the first trial by a half-length over Br Chago, stopping the timer in :19.894 for an 88 speed index and the third-fastest qualifying time.

Racing for Cuadra Las Vegas, Kc Shes Cartel has won five of 10 starts with two seconds and one third while earning $57,000. The Krash Cartel filly is trained by Gustavo Magdaleno.

Bred in Mexico by Abelardo F. Gallegos, Kc Shes Cartel is out of Shes Tough Enough P by Apollitical Jess. She was third in the Mexico Derby earlier this season and also placed third in the Mexican Breeders Futurity last year. She will be looking for her first stakes victory in the Subasta Selecta Derby final.
