VINTON, LA–JUNE 20, 2026–Dropping Dimes continued his winning form Saturday night with a gate-to-wire victory in the $50,000 HDJ Butler Stakes at Delta Downs.
Ridden by Jorge Garcia, the gelding broke sharply and never surrendered the lead in the 400-yard event for accredited Louisiana-breds ages 3 and up. He stopped the timer in 19.708 seconds over a muddy, sealed racing surface while earning a 101 speed index.
Owned by Jaime Cardenas and trained by Josue Ponce, Dropping Dimes was bred in Louisiana by Ryan and Danielle Robicheaux. The gelding was a $70,000 repurchase at the 2026 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale.
He is sired by champion Apollitical Blood and out of the Freighttrain B mare Depositing Chex. The female family traces to World Champion Whosleavingwho ($1,334,842).

The $30,000 winner's share increased his earnings to $180,813 from 17 career starts. He now owns a record of 17-8-2-1.
Entering the race off a victory in the Miss Polly Classic Stakes (G3), Dropping Dimes has also won the Treme Derby Stakes and finished second in the Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Derby (G3).
Paint Me Onis finished second under Bobby Ransom, turning in another consistent effort after tracking the pace throughout and holding the runner-up position by a neck. The 4-year-old gelding earned a 98 speed index.
Owned by Mary Stratton and trained by Joseph D. Manucy, Paint Me Onis was bred in Louisiana by Scott Jeane. He is by Paint Me Perry and out of the Heza Fast Dash mare RL Toni Lynn.
Paint Me Onis now sports a record of 14 starts with six wins, three seconds, and two thirds while earning $155,149. He opened his 2026 campaign with a victory against optional claiming company before finishing third in the Grade 2 Sam Houston Classic Stakes.
As a 3-year-old, he won the Mardi Gras Derby and finished second in the Louisiana Champions Day Derby (G3).
One Sweet Boss rallied late under J. Ramirez to finish third, missing second by only a neck. The veteran gelding earned a 97 speed index.
Owned and bred by Flying K Ranch LLC and trained by Phillip Calais Jr., One Sweet Boss is sired by One Sweet Jess and out of the Rakin In The Cash mare Starlight Bess.
The gelding now owns a record of 42 starts with nine wins, five seconds, and seven thirds while earning $237,235. A multiple graded stakes winner, his victories include the Opelousas Stakes (G3), Mid City Stakes (G3), and Miss Polly Classic Stakes (G2).
Hueys Wild Bay Be finished fourth and was followed by RF Imperial Choice, San Lorenzo Luna, PK Pure Rogue, and Eyesa War Eagle. Tha Duke was scratched.
