MILLARVILLE, CAN–JULY 1, 2026–Flash Me A Corona held off a determined challenge from Ms Clara to capture the $8,347 Millarville Maturity Stakes on July 1 at Millarville. The 300-yard stakes for horses three years old and up was contested over a muddy track and decided by a neck at the wire.

Ridden by Trevor Simpson, Flash Me A Corona broke sharply, went straight to the lead, and never surrendered it, stopping the clock in 16.274 seconds. The 4-year-old brown gelding races for owners Ralph Danard and Janet Patriquin and is trained by Craig Smith. Bred in Alberta by Ralph Danard, he is sired by Obsessed With Corona and out of the First Moonflash mare Look Back Moonflash.

The victory was the ninth from 21 career starts for Flash Me A Corona, who now sports a record of 21-9-2-7. The winner's share of the purse, worth $5,600, increased his lifetime earnings to $89,429. An accomplished stakes performer, he previously captured the Alberta Bred Derby, All Canadian Derby, and Century Mile Horsemen's Derby Division 1.

Ms Clara finished a game second under Sheldon Meineke after breaking sharply and narrowly missing at the finish. Owned by Arlene and Harold Wippert Jr., who also trains, the 6-year-old mare was bred by Randy and Linda Schalla. She is by Comanche Moon out of the Jesse James Jr mare Im Jesses Lucky Girl.

The runner-up now holds a career record of 26-2-6-7 with earnings of $35,932. Still seeking her first stakes victory, Ms Clara has previously placed in the CTD Distance #4 Stakes, CTM Princess Stakes, and Canada Cup Derby.

Insta Bond and Leo Dash were scratched prior to the running of the Millarville Maturity Stakes.
