Bludz Valiant Policy Scores Dominant Selma Stakes (G3) Victory

SELMA, TX–JULY 3, 2026– Bludz Valiant Policy added another stakes victory to her résumé on Friday night, drawing away from a talented field of fillies and mares to capture the Grade 3 $50,000 Selma Stakes at Retama Park.

Ridden by Luis Vivanco, Bludz Valiant Policy broke sharply and took command in the stretch before pulling away to a 1½-length victory. The 3-year-old filly completed the 350 yards in :17.654 while earning a 102 speed index.

Owned and bred by Three Bar T Quarter Horses and trained by Ben Olaveson, the daughter of Apollitical Blood improved her record to 8 starts with five wins, one second, and one third. The $34,140 winner's share of the purse increased her career earnings to $126,110.

Bludz Valiant Policy is out of the Tres Seis mare BP Tres Policies and entered the race off a runner-up finish in the Sam Houston Oaks. Last season, she was a finalist in the Dash For Cash Futurity (G2).

Di KVN Waven finished second under Oliver Martinez for owner Refugio Alvarado and trainer Jose Martinez. The filly closed willingly to earn the runner-up spot while stopping the clock in :17.878 and earning a 95 speed index.

Bred by Jacobo Garza, Di KVN Waven was a $24,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate. The daughter of KVN Corona is out of the Mr Piloto mare Waven Bye Piloto, a half sister to Texas Classic Futurity (G1) winner Bodacious Dash, who earned $756,495.

Now the owner of a 10-5-3-0 record, Di KVN Waven has banked $315,337. Her accomplishments include victories in the Louisiana Downs Futurity (G2) and TQHA Sires Cup Futurity (G2). She entered the Selma Stakes following a fifth-place effort in the Sam Houston Derby (G3).

Fabulous Casina rallied to finish third under Nestor Duran for owner Dee Tiller and trainer Brittany Tellez. The filly covered the distance in :17.892 while earning a 94 speed index.

Bred by Bobby Myers, Fabulous Casina is a $14,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate by One Fabulous Eagle and out of the stakes-winning PYC Paint Your Wagon mare BM Casina Royale. Her female family traces to AQHA Champion Elliptical, winner of $333,807.

The filly entered the race off a victory in the Sam Houston 250 Stakes and now owns a record of 16-5-2-5 with earnings of $145,864. Her previous stakes wins include the TQHA Sale Sophomore Stakes and La Villita Stakes.

Shez Flyn finished fourth and was followed by Baby Ruth, Eyesa Wagon My Tale, Jess Louisiana Girl, Fine Wine Kisses, and Ruse Dynasty 123. Trixiee was scratched.
