SHELBYVILLE, IN–JULY 18, 2026–Wyld Over Corona has been perfect all year, leading up to his first Futurity. Now, he can add stakes winner to his credentials as he scored the win in the $136,200 Jaguar Rocket Futurity today (Saturday) at Horseshoe Indianapolis.
The race had to be contested through some pretty swift rain, but it didn’t deter the gelding one bit as he stopped the timer in 17.801, a new stakes record.
With Eduardo Diaz aboard, Wyld Over Corona began from post four and made an immediate impact on the race, leading from gate to wire. Midway through the 350-yard dash, he increased his advantage and slid under the wire over the sloppy track as a winner by three-quarters of a length. Cat Five Kate and L. Daniel Martinez finished a neck ahead of Apollitical Twin C and Edgar Diaz for second.

Wyld Over Corona is now three for three in his young career. The homebred son of Kvn Corona is owned by Nick Johnson’s JK Racing Stable. The Indiana bred freshman is trained by currently Leading Quarter Horse Trainer Tim Eggleston.
“He’s a nice colt and Keli (Eggleston) raised him and foaled him out at our farm, so he’s been with us since day one,” said Tim Eggleston. “Nick (Johnson) talked about selling him and I told him, ‘this isn’t the one to sell.’ He has turned into a nice colt for us. And, Nick isn’t just an owner, he’s a good friend of mine, so very happy for him to get this win.”
Wyld Over Corona now has just under $100,000 in career earnings for his connections.
“This is pretty exciting,” said Johnson. “I’ve been in this game for a while and this is my first Indiana bred stakes winner, so this means a lot.”
Wyld Over Corona goes into the record books. His time of 17.801 is a new stakes record. The race began as a 350-yard dash during the first year of pari-mutuel Quarter Horse racing at Horseshoe Indianapolis in 2003, then was contested at 300 yards and 330 yards for a few years before reverting to 350 yards in 2024.
Kissin Jessy closed gamely to finish second, defeated 1½ lengths by the winner while holding a head advantage over the third-place finisher. The sorrel filly by Kiss My Hocks out of Joyful Jessy, by Apollitical Jess, earned $38,904 for her runner-up effort.
Bred in Oklahoma by Flag Ranch LLC, she races for Pamela Brickley Hann, Lisa Cunningham, and Ruby Huggins, is trained by Anthony Cunningham, and was ridden by Sergio Lopez. Kissin Jessy was a $78,000 purchase at the 2025 Heritage Place Yearling Sale, and the graded stakes placing further enhanced the value of that investment.
Provocotiv finished a determined third, just a head behind the runner-up after a competitive stretch drive, earning $19,452. The sorrel filly is by Jess Different out of Apollitical Regard, by Apollitical Jess, and was bred in Texas by Cox-Lane LLC. She is owned by Quarter Shots, LLC and Ryleigh Fisher, trained by G. Rodriguez, who also handled the riding assignment. Provocotiv proved to be a bargain purchase, selling for just $17,500 at the 2025 Heritage Place Yearling Sale, and added another strong stakes performance to her young résumé.
The remainder of the field finished in the following order: Fourth was Shez a Natural, followed by Fifth-place finisher Apolitical Joy, Sixth was Fancy Candy Wagon, Seventh went to Cowgirl Bluez, Eighth was Jess Sweet Ride, Ninth finished Bp Southern Dynasty, and Tenth was Beach First.
The 24th season of live Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse extends through Friday, November 13. For more information on racing at Horseshoe Indianapolis, visit www.caesars.com/horseshoe-indianapolis/racing or find details on social media @HSIndyRacing.
