Sheza A Sugar Momma surged late under Ryder Olmstead to win the $52,354 MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity at Canterbury Park on July 23, leading a sweep of the top three finishers for trainer Jason Olmstead.

SHAKOPEE, MN–JULY 23, 2026–Sheza a Sugar Momma won by a head in the $49,354 MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity Thursday at Canterbury Park. The 2-year-old Minnesota-bred daughter of Hes Relentless has now won two of three starts and $43,970 in purses.

Sheza a Sugar Momma is owned by Tom Maher and Paul Luedemann and was bred by Summer Run, Inc out of Candy Coated Paint, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. She is trained by Jason Olmstead as was second-place finisher Ourrelentlessdynasty and third-place finisher Livin D Dream. Olmstead’s 16-year-old son, Ryder Olmstead, rode the winner.

“She’s a cool horse all around,” the teenager said. “She’s honest, does her job and I’m just glad I get to be the one to ride her.”

The elder Olmstead has always had a high bar for those that ride his horses. “I told [Ryder] he had enough horse to get there. Let her get her feet under her and go to the other end,” he said. “That’s one of the better rides I’ve got to see from gate to wire.”

Sheza a Sugar Momma paid $3.20 to win as the wagering choice. Final time for 350 yards was 18.203 seconds.

Prior to the Futurity, Canterbury’s top trainer won the $29,250 Bob Morehouse Stakes with Relentless Legacy, who has now won six of 11 starts at Canterbury including last year’s Morehouse.

“He’s just a super classy horse. No problem to be around,” Olmstead said. “Comes out here and does his job and goes home happy to do it.”

Armando Alvidrez rode Ourrelentlessdynasty to a game second-place finish for owners Tom Maher and Amber Olmstead.

Also trained by Jason Olmstead, the filly was bred by Tom Maher and is by Hes Relentless out of the FDD Dynasty mare Ms Dynasty. She now owns a record of 4-1-1-0 with earnings of $20,582.

Livin D Dream, ridden by Alfredo Triana Jr., finished another head back in third for owner Cavenaugh Quarter Horses LLC.

The Jason Olmstead trainee was bred by Cavenaugh Quarter Horses LLC and was a $14,000 RNA at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale.

The filly is sired by champion Uncle D and out of the First Down Dash mare Teller Im Alive. She now sports a record of 4-1-0-3 with earnings of $25,858.

Shes So Relentless finished fourth and was followed by Relentless Prince, Relentless Colt, Relentless Cutie, Meleys, Defiant V, and Hawk Yea Im Fast.
