Oneida County Fair held four trials for the $18,000-estimated Oneida County Fair QH Futurity on Saturday's race card.

MALAD CITY, ID—JULY 28, 2026—Idaho-bred filly Yr Maple James posted the fastest qualifying time from four trials contested Saturday, July 25, for the $18,000-estimated Oneida County Fair QH Futurity at the Oneida County Fairgrounds, leading a field that will return for the August 9 final at 300 yards.

Trained by Weston Smith for owner and breeder Wesley Pierson, Yr Maple James stopped the timer in 15.609 while winning the fourth and final trial (Race 7) by three-quarters of a length over fellow qualifier Hr Trainsamovin.

Ridden by Fernando J. Olague, the brown filly earned a 91 speed index after making a strong inside move to secure the fastest clocking of the afternoon. By champion sire Ivory James and out of Lucys Fame, by Dash Ta Fame, the Idaho-bred picked up her second career win after finishing sixth in the Roche Equine Veterinary Services Futurity in her last start on June 21.

The second-fastest qualifier was Haileys Runaway, who captured the third trial (Race 6) in 15.670 with a gate-to-wire performance under Brayan Juarez for owner Michael K. McKell and trainer Sergio Canales. The sorrel filly defeated Am Sweet Dash by one-half length, earning an 89 speed index.

Bred in Oklahoma by Jose M. Mendoza, Haileys Runaway is by legendary sire Mr Jess Perry and out of Walk Or Runaway, by Walk Thru Fire. She was a $25,000 purchase at the 2025 Heritage Place Yearling Sale and continued to reward those connections with another sharp effort. She was also a finalist in the Pocatello Downs Spring Futurity

The Oneida County Fair Futurity Final is scheduled for August 9, with the eight fastest qualifiers from Saturday's trials returning to compete for the estimated $18,000 purse over 300 yards.
