Favorite Lady 123 and Rolando Pina earned a hard fought victory in the third running of the $34,000 Mari Hulman-George Overnight Stakes Thursday, July 30.

SHELBYVILLE, IN–JULY 30, 2026–Favorite Lady 123 and Rolando Pina earned a hard fought victory in the third running of the $34,000 Mari Hulman-George Overnight Stakes Thursday, July 30 to close out the month of racing at Horseshoe Indianapolis. The duo covered the 350-yard dash in a time of :17.855 seconds for the win, making them undefeated in two starts so far in the filly’s young career.

Favorite Lady 123 had a good break from the gate and was immediately a factor. Two-year-olds were spread across the track and several battled to claim the top spot. Apollitical Fast and L. Daniel Martinez joined her on the outside in the early stages before Nachos Secret and Martin Munoz began closing in for the final yards of the race. Cyber Affair and Eduardo Diaz also used a late closing move to catch up to the inside leaders, but Favorite Lady 123 was able to hold onto the lead at the wire by a head over Nachos Secret. Apollitical Fast finished third in the photo finish between horses.

Favorite Lady 123 was a bit of a surprise winner, paying $12.20 for the win. The Flag Ranch Oklahoma bred freshman was a $68,000 purchase from the Heritage Place Yearling Sale last fall by owner Steve Zamler. Tim Eggleston trains the daughter of Favorite Cartel. It was Eggleston’s third win on the day, pairing up his stakes win with two Thoroughbred victories earlier in the program.

The race is named in honor of longtime Quarter Horse advocate and owner-breeder Mari Hulman George, who had a massive farm named Circle S Ranch in Terre Haute, Ind. Best known as a member of the family who owned and operated the Indianapolis 500 Speedway for decades, Hulman-George served on the Indiana Breed Development Committee for several years, shaping the current program still in place today. She also stood several stallions at her farm before her passing in 2018. Hulman-George was a huge proponent of animal welfare and worked hard for rescue and adoption of both racehorses and greyhounds, many of which resided on her farm after their racing careers were completed.

Ridden by Martin Munoz, Nachos Secret finished second for owner, trainer, and breeder Ricardo Martinez. The gelding by Habits Secret out of the Favorite Cartel mare Favorite Sissy broke well and stayed in contention throughout the 350-yard dash but was unable to reel in the winner late. The runner-up effort improved his career record to three starts with two second-place finishes.

Apollitical Fast completed the trifecta under Luz Martinez for owner and breeder Brian Gunder and trainer Anthony Cunningham. The filly, by Apollitical Blood out of the Heza Fast Dash mare Mcm Sheza Fast Cutie, earned her first career stakes placing with the third-place finish.

Cyber Affair, A Hint Of Bad, Apolitical Lady Wins, Gv Kingstone, Miss Mollie, Blue Collar Cowboy, and Ocean Master completed the order of finish. Gv Medio Meillion was scratched.
