EDMONTON, ALBERTA—JULY 31, 2026—Jerry Stojan's homebred The Friendly Fire posted the fastest qualifying time in his career debut Saturday evening, leading eight juveniles into the $58,649 Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity final after two 330-yard trial races were contested at Century Mile Race Course. The final is scheduled for August 15.

A gelded son of Cerveza Corona from the Walk Thru Fire mare Getit Hot, The Friendly Fire stopped the timer in 17.137 while earning a 90 speed index in the second trial. Under jockey Ricardo Moreno, the William Leech trainee broke sharply, seized command immediately, and drew clear late to defeat First Flash The Moon by 1¾ lengths, establishing the quickest clocking of the evening.

The Friendly Fire was bred in Alberta by Charles G. Stojan.

The opening trial produced the second- and third-fastest qualifiers as Babes Wagon held off a determined late surge from Rooters Wagon by a head in 17.206.

Breaking from the outside post, jockey Daniel Tavares guided the Jd Wagon Boss gelding to a hard-fought victory for owners Barry and Janice Sather and trainer Misael Moreno. Bred in Alberta by K. Glenn Wills, Babes Wagon is out of Northfork Babe, by Spanish Boot. It was the first win in three starts for Babe Wagon, who was sixth in the Sale Stakes Futurity on July 18.

Rooters Wagon, also by Jd Wagon Boss and runner-up in the Sale Stakes Futurity and the John Deere Century Mile Juvenile Challenge, earned the third-fastest qualifying mark with a 17.219 effort after rallying strongly through the final strides to miss by only a head.

The gelding is out of Bitterroot Corona, by Sizzlin Red Corona, and races for breeder-owner Glenn K. Wills. Trained by Buckey A. Stockwell and ridden by Silvino Morales, Rooters has banked $15,761 in three starts.
