AURORA, CO–AUGUST 16, 2026–One Glittering Flare scored his first stakes victory Sunday afternoon at Arapahoe Park, driving to a half-length win in the $40,122 Mile High Derby.

Ridden by Daniel Valles, One Glittering Flare overcame an eighth-place start before taking command and completing the 400 yards in :20.038, earning a 94 speed index over a good, sealed track.

The 3-year-old colt is owned by Barron Racing LLC and trained by Jose Barron. Bred in New Mexico by Sierra Hugo Barron, he is by Flare For Ivory and out of the Tres Seis mare Seis Star Glitter.

One Glittering Flare entered the Mile High Derby following a finalist effort in the Pen Pal Stakes earlier this season. Sunday's $16,049 winner's share boosted his career earnings to $48,543, while improving his record to 8-4-0-0.

Palm Springs crossed the wire second under Fernando Fonseca-Soto for owner Paul Tonderum and trainer Fernando Manriquez. The filly turned in a strong effort, finishing a half-length behind the winner.

Bred by Steve D. Burns, DVM, Palm Springs is a $49,000 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale graduate. She is by champion sire Favorite Cartel and out of the A Regal Choice mare Dont Pass Bar. She is a half-sister to champion Quirky ($424,098). Palm Springs now has a record of 10-1-1-0 with earnings of $18,760.

Sunshining finished third under Cordarelton Benn for Celenes's Racing LLC and trainer Chris Gandarilla. The filly fought gamely to finish three-quarters of a length behind Palm Springs.

Also bred by Steve D. Burns, DVM, Sunshining is a $38,000 Los Alamitos Equine Sale graduate. She is by Mpshinning and out of stakes winner Little Talks, by Favorite Cartel. She now owns a record of 8-2-1-2 with earnings of $45,739.

Sunshining entered Sunday's Derby off a fourth-place finish in the Arapahoe Park Distaff Challenge Stakes. Earlier this season, she was a finalist in the Grade 2 Heritage Place Oaks, and last year she finished third in the Mile High Futurity.

Rc Juliet, Coronas Golddigger, Desert Center, Jaimes Payday, Tellem Itsa Shutout and Bolt Of Time completed the order of finish.
