SHELBYVILLE, IN—JULY 2, 2011—Indiana Downs carded five stakes Quarter Horse Stakes Saturday night worth a combined $574,940.
The Heartland Futurity and Jaguar Rocket Quarter Horse Stakes were contested for two-year-olds at 300 yards while the Indiana Live QHRAI Derby and Blue River Derby for 3-year-olds were each run at 350 yards and the Bob Woodard Memorial Stakes for 4-Year-Olds and Up also ran at 350 yards.
Rapid Ivory Prevails in Heartland Futurity
Bobby Byrd's two-year-old colt Rapid Ivory broke on top and out lasted Leading Talent and fastest qualifier Tf First Pick to win the $115,160 Heartland Futurity on Saturday night.
Ridden by jockey Harold Collins, the bay colt completed his task in :15.706 seconds to pick up the winner's purse of $63,338. Ron Raper saddles the colt by first crop sire Ivory James. It was the second win in three starts for the lightly raced North Carolina bred who has earned $72,041.
Albert Wells III bred Rapid Ivory from the First Down Laveaux mare Rapid Fire Cash. He came into the race off a second place effort in the June 11th trials while posting the fourth fastest qualifying time.
Leading Talent picked up $23,032 for owner Alejandro Figueroa. Bobby Cox bred the Prime Talent colt out Leading Diva, by Special Leader in Texas. He is trained by Jorge Luis Mendoza and was ridden by Francisco Ramirez, Jr.
Another head back Donald Jacobs Tf First Pick picked up the show money of $11,516. Also trained by Raper, Thomas Johns had the riding assignment. Steve Tate bred the Dash To First Place colt out of Pick Your Passion by Special Project in Louisiana.
Completing the field were Sh Shesadash, Unseen Angel, Pt Special Feature, Southern Chicks Man, Minnie Regards, Flippin Fantasy and Eye Slip By.
Fastest Qualifier Returns to Take Jaguar Rocket Stakes
Fastest qualifier HQH Burn Notice kept his perfect record at 4-for-4 Saturday with a one-length victory in the $124,800 Jaguar Rocket Quarter Horse Stakes for two-year-olds bred in Indiana.
Racing for David Whitman the Ron Raper trainee completed the 300 yard course in :15.694 seconds, earning a 94 speed index, and picking up the winner's purse of $68,640.

Second fastest qualifier Smart Visions finished a neck in front of Successful Dash for owner/trainer Dicky Benton. Mark Michel bred the sorrel gelding by Real Visions from the First Smart Money mare First Smart Stride. Julie Veltman was in the saddled to earn $24,960.
Randy Thompson and Darrel Henry's Successful Dash just missed to settle for third and pickup $12,480. Bill Price bred the gelding by first crop sire Cartel Success. He is out of the Dash For Cash mare Rita Anns Dash. David Brown was aboard for trainer Tom Mosley, Jr.
Completing the field were Bye Bye Corona, Avitarr, Shake Em Down Stoney, Rarely Scrutinized, Highway To Payoff, Carmans Fantasy and Swiper. Carmans Fantasy finished sixth but was moved to ninth by the stewards for interference.
Tortuga Tony Gets First Stakes Win in Indiana Live Derby
Racing to his fourth win and third straight this season, Tortuga Tony earned his first stakes victory with a ¾ length win in the $112,280 Indiana Live QHRAI Derby on Saturday.

Jesus Gonzalez owns the sorrel trained by Jesus Gonzalez, Jr. He was second in the Ruidoso Juvenile Invitational, Hialeah Laddie Futurity and third in the South Florida Derby and Governor's Stakes. Paul Jones and Vaughn Cook bred Tortuga Tony from the Dash To Chivato mare Just Wanna Be Me.
Jessgonnafly finished second for Isabell Guerrero. The North Dakota bred Fly Jess Fly gelding trained by Loren Brocka and ridden by Victor Olivo earned $22,456. Bred by Legacy Ranch, he is out of the Toast To Dash mare Toast To Gypsy.
Gustavo Flores' Kt Make A Tax Move finished a neck back in third picking up $11,228. Victor Gonzalez trains the Maknmoves gelding out of Lanella, by Lanes Lenister. Ridden by Aron Hunt, he was bred in Utah by Kaylyn Trapp.
Completing the field were Speed Smith, Eye Opening Favorite, Missourian, Call For Braggs, My Corona Is Rare, Gottabeme and Streakin To de Money.
Bitter Sweet Song Duels, Prevails in Blue River Derby
Bitter Sweet Song dueled Air Boron Leader throughout before inching past the gelding at the wire to win the $112,900 Blue River Derby for Indiana-bred 3-year-olds.

Circle S Ranch bred the bay filly, ridden by Randy Prescott, from the Shawne Bug mare Whata Sweet Song. She broke her maiden at Indiana Downs on May 21st.
Air Born Leader who won the $100,000 Born Runner Classic on May 21st settled for second picking up $22,580. The gelded son of Leader Of The Class races for Randy Thompson and has earned over $100,000 with a 2-3-1 record in nine lifetime starts.
Also a homebred for Thompson, the Tom Mosley, Jr. trainee is out of Air Born Jazz, by Born Runner. Shanley Jackson was aboard.
Fastest qualifier Lovemelikethat got shut off early and was gaining to finish third. The daughter of Likenothinyoueversaw races for Daniel Cooter and is saddled by John McCreary. Ridden by Aron Hunt she earned $11,290. Mark Mitchel bred the sorrel miss from the First Smart Money mare First Smart Stride.
Completing the field were Hit An Awesome, Feature Me Packin, La Una Viva, Stone Roller, Cant Tell Me Nothing, Big Brown Dash and Stole N Loot.
Determined Hooked On Magic Wins Bob Woodard Memorial
A determined Hooked On Magic dueled Eyes Got Hope and Fillemup Phil to the wire in the $109,800 Bob Woodard Memorial Stakes for 4-year-olds and Up on Saturday night. The Heza Fast Dash gelding stuck his neck front while recording a :17.793 time under jockey Shanley Jackson.

Gene Cox's Eyes Got Hope picked up $21,960 while settling for second. Also trained by Cox, the 6-year-old Mr Eye Opener gelding was ridden by David Brown. Circle S Ranch, Inc. bred the gray from the Shawne Bug mare Hope For Me Too.
Another head back was Brian Gunder's Fillemup Phil who finished third. The Brookstone Bay 4-year-old is handled by Paul Martin and ridden by Aron Hunt. He earned $10,980. Guy Trolinger bred Fillemup Phil from Miss Reminice by Premiership (TB).
Completing the field were Brimmerton Lane, Gypsy Effort, Bright Eyed Vision, Mc Dashin Lil Angel and Burrs Tictac.
