Pattys Saint Wins Fifth Consecutive Race, Tops Bank of America Pocatello Downs Challenge Trials

POCATELLO, ID – JULY 8, 2022 – In two Bank of America Pocatello Downs Challenge Championship trials, Pattys Saint and The Prize Ferarri emerged as the trial winners and top fastest qualifiers.

Pattys Saint ($2.40) won her fifth consecutive race in the second and final trial of the night and posted the fastest qualifying time of :21.251 with a 112 speed index in the effort. Jesus Virgin guided the 4-year-old filly to a one and one-half length victory for trainer Heath Hillman and owner/breeder Robert Harrison.

Pattys Saint was bred in Idaho, by Jess Got Easier and out of Sp Saint Patty, by Saint Shackleton. She has won nine of her last ten starts and is 11 for 15 lifetime with $163,901 earned. As a 3-year-old, she won the AQHA Distaff Challenge Championship (G1) last fall at Albuquerque after winning the regional qualifier at Pocatello. Her 2-year-old campaign was marked with wins in the Oneida County Futurity and the WHR Open Futurity at Sweetwater.

Second fastest qualifier The Prize Ferarri ($4.40) was the gate-to-wire winner of the first trial with a time of :21.450 and a 108 speed index.

Mark Hanson trains the 4-year-old gelding by The Louisiana Cartel for RTM Stables, Robin Dunn, Kevin Dunn and Bryon Goody; Francisco Rubio had the riding call on Friday.

He was bred by Weetona Stanley in Oklahoma, out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Ferarri Fast Prize, making him a half-brother to multiple graded stakes winner Ferrari James.

The post-time favorite in the field, The Prize Ferarri is a multiple stakes winner and is graded stakes placed. He has earned $106,025 in 17 starts and 11 wins, including the Bitterroot Derby, the Adequan Pocatello Downs Derby, and the John Deere Pocatello Downs Juvenile Challenge. He was the runner up in the 2020 Bitterroot Futurity (RG3) and finished fourth in the Adequan Derby Challenge Championship (G3) in Albuquerque last fall.

Dr Tool finished second in the second trial and was the third fastest qualifier in :21.503. Cesar Moreno rode the Kiss My Hocks gelding for trainer Abelardo Gonzalez and owner Onofre Hernandez.

Dr Tool is a graded stakes placed 5-year-old bred in Texas by Andy Caulo, out of Where Eagles Soar, by One Famous Eagle. He has earned $137,838 in 22 starts; among his four career wins are the Adequan Pocatello Downs Derby Challenge and the Adequan Weber Downs Derby Challenge in 2020. Last year he competed in the Grade 1 Downs at Albuquerque Fall Championship.
