Fdd Swingin Dynasty Repeats in $56,287 Bank of America Championship Challenge at Pocatello

POCATELLO, ID – JULY 29, 2022 – Defending champion Fdd Swingin Dynasty returned to win the $56,287 Bank of America Championship Challenge at Pocatello for the second straight year.

Fdd Swingin Dynasty ($21.80) flew from her outside post and won by a half-length; she stopped the clock in :21.281 for the 440-yard race. Fdd Swingin Dynasty earned an 111 speed index, and the top seven finishers each earned a triple-digit speed index in the fast final.

The 5-year-old daughter of FDD Dynasty is trained by Alvaro Torres and owned by Darian Burt. Oscar Cervantes was in the saddle for Friday’s win. She was the fourth fastest qualifier from two trials on July 8.

Fdd Swingin Dynasty was bred in Utah by Jerry Windham, out of the graded stakes placed mare Jess a Swingin, by Shazoom.

Last year, she won the same race before finishing second in the Pocatello Downs Distaff Challenge and representing the Idaho region in the AQHA Distaff Challenge Championship (G1) at Albuquerque.

On Friday, she pushed her earnings past the $100,000 mark by adding a check for the winner’s share of $25,892. She is seven for 17 lifetime. In addition to her performance in Challenge races, she won the KVN Corona Derby at Weber and the Wyoming Downs Renegade Sports Derby in 2020.

A pair of Mark Hanson trainees finished second and third, led by Sables Dashin in second place.

Sables Dashin is a 5-year-old FDD Dynasty gelding ridden by Guillermo Suarez for owners Robin Dunn, Larry Chapple and RTM Stables LLC. The sixth fastest qualifier this year, Sables Dashin also finished second in the same Challenge qualifier behind Fdd Swingin Dynasty last summer.

Sables Dashin competed in the Bank of America Emerald Downs Championship Challenge last fall before competing in the Bank of America Challenge Championship (G1) at Albuquerque. He qualified to the John Deere Juvenile Challenge (G2) in 2019 after winning the Pocatello qualifier, and was second in the Bitterroot Derby the next year.

Bob Moore Farms, LLC, bred Sables Dashin in Oklahoma by out of the multiple graded stakes placed mare Painted Sable, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. He has $82,963 from 25 starts and six wins.

Second fastest qualifier The Prize Ferarri finished in third place under jockey Francisco Rubio. The 4-year-old gelding by The Louisiana Cartel is owned by RTM Stables, Robin Dunn, Kevin Dunn and Bryon Goody.

He was bred by Weetona Stanley in Oklahoma, out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Ferarri Fast Prize, making him a half-brother to multiple graded stakes winner Ferrari James.

The post-time favorite in the field, The Prize Ferarri is a multiple stakes winner and is graded stakes placed. He has earned $111,654 in 18 starts and 11 wins, including the Bitterroot Derby, the Adequan Pocatello Downs Derby, and the John Deere Pocatello Downs Juvenile Challenge. He was the runner up in the 2020 Bitterroot Futurity (RG3) and finished fourth in the Adequan Derby Challenge Championship (G3) in Albuquerque last fall.

Completing the field were Dr Tool, Df Storm Tales, Heza Southern Cartel, Jesstafiably Jess, Royalstellartakeoff, Hes a Bugin and Newport Guy.
