OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JANUARY 22, 2014—Bobby D. Cox was the top buyer during the opening session of the 37th annual Winter Mixed Heritage Place Sale today (Thursday) with two purchases for $365,000.
The longtime Fort Worth, Texas owner/breeder signed tickets for the two high-selling mares Jess Significant and Shesa First Ratify.
The first day session saw 218 head sold for $2,690,400 and $12,341 average. The first session median was $6,200.
Earlier Thursday afternoon Cox bought All American Futurity(G1) runner-up Shesa First Ratify and her embryo by leading second crop sire First Moonflash for $115,000. The $448,321 earning daughter of all-time leading sire First Down Dash was consigned by Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Sandy Erwin.
Paragon Farms Tom Lipar purchased three horses for $173,000 and Argelio Aguayo paid $143,700 for nine head in the opening session.
Burns Ranch, Agent was the first day leading consignor with five head totaling $313,500. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent had 23 head for $257,300 and 6666 Ranch, Agent sold six head for $203,200.
Pyc Paint Your Wagon was the leading "short yearling" sire (by average with two or more sold) with two yearlings for $23,500. Tres Seis had two yearlings average $12,750 and Coronas Leaving You had two head for a $12,000 average.
First session leading covering stallion (by average with two or more sold) was leading sire Mr Jess Perry with two in-foal mares for $59,500. Leading first crop sire of 2014 had two in-foal mares average $33,500 and champion grade 1 sire Carters Cartel had two in-foal mares average $17,000.
