RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–APRIL 28, 2023–Forty-four schooling races to be contested over two days next week have been scheduled at Ruidoso Downs.
The 220 juveniles entered are currently eligible for at least one of the Ruidoso Triple Crown futurities.
The track will host 22 races on Monday, May 1 and 22 races on Tuesday, May 2. All races will be non-wagering contested over 300 yards.
At least 20 six-figure yearlings sale graduates are expected to make their debut on Monday (May 1) headed by $510,000 Heritage Place Sale graduate B CN You. Trainer Heath Taylor conditions the son of champion Kiss My Hocks for owner Bobby D. Cox.
Out of the stakes winning Valiant Hero mare Glory Rider, B Cn You is a half-brother to three black type including Juno Request Stakes winner Jess Be Glory. This is the family of Mighty B Valiant and Mighty Invictus. Rodrigo Vallejo is named to ride the bay colt in race 13 from post one.
A pair of $310,000 Ruidoso Sale graduates are also slated for the Monday's program.
Trainer Eric Valenzuela will saddled AJ King Crown for owners Los LLC and Super Champion, Inc, in race 5. Sergio Becerra is named to ride the son of leading sire Apollitical Jess from the Grade 2 winning Tres Seis mare A Tres Of Paint. The bay colt is a brother to Grade 1-placed Ajs Tres Of Paint and two other black-type.
The second $310,000 Ruidoso Select graduate entered on Monday is Opt In by leading sire Favorite Cartel. Chris O'Dell trains the brother to Grade 1 Go Man Go Handicap winner You Can Run and RG1-placed Opt Out for owner West Texas Racing Partner. The second dam is multiple Grade 1 producer Babe On The Fly by Straw fly Special.

Tuesday's 22 races will feature at least 30 six-figure summer sale yearlings headed by Heritage Place Yearling Sale $515,000 sale topper Maxximumm. Trainer Heath Taylor has named jockey Rodrigo Vallejo to ride the son of second-crop sire and champion Kvn Corona for owner Caliche Walls Venture, LLC.
Maxximumm, a half-brother to last year's Grade 2 Robert Adair Kindergarten third-place finisher Muy Bien Corona, is out of the stakes-placed Walk Thru Fire mare Lady Perry On Fire, a sister to champion Jess Walking Thru and half-sister to champion Sass Me Blue. Maxximumm will start from the three post in Race 4.
Race 14 will feature Ruidoso Select Sale $460,000 sale-topper Goodyme, a half-brother to three Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity winners Champion Duponte, Nymeria and Sunnysyde, will start for owner West Texas Racing Partner. Trainer Chris O'Dell has named Francisco Calderon to the ride the son of leading sire Apollitical Jess out of the Ivory James mare Havanah Goodime. The sorrel colt will break from post four.
Asscher, a $350,000 Ruidoso Select graduate will start under jockey Bryan Candanosa in Race 2 for owner Lance Bland and trainer Marc Jungers. The daughter of three-time world champion sire FDD Dynasty is out of the champion and multiple stakes-producer Astica by Jesse James Jr. The second dam is champion Alice K White by First Down Dash.

Ruidoso Downs Race Track & Casino, home of the $8 million Quarter Horse Triple Crown, will kick-off its 2023 live race meet on May 26 and run through Labor Day, September 4.
The $1,000,000 Ruidoso Futurity(G1) trials will be contested on opening day, Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27.
