Fastest Qualifier Political Twist Draws Outside Post for Grade 2 for West Texas Futurity

SUNLAND PARK, NM--APRIL 2,2025--The fastest qualifier from 13 trials, La Feliz Montana Ranch's Political Twist drew post 10 for Saturday's 300-yard, $363,880 West Texas Futurity (G2) at Sunland Park.

Political Twist made his career debut with a clear 1 3/4-length victory in the 11th West Texas Futurity trial on March 16. Xavier Rodriguez trains the sorrel son of world champion Apollitical Jess and $150,000 purchase at last year's Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.

Political Twist will be ridden by Luis Martinez.

Other contenders include Ring A Ling Ding, an undefeated son of the Tempting Dash stallion Pa Cha Ching trained by Tony Sedillo for owners Kenneth Wallin, Cherie Wallin, and Cade Wallin. Ring A Ling Ding has won both of his outs, including the last West Texas Futurity trial in his second career race, and he has earned $19,920.

Ring A Ling Ding drew post 2 and will be ridden by Alfredo Sigala.

Also on Sunday, a dozen 2-year-olds are entered back in the 300-yard, $50,000 West Texas Juvenile Stakes.

One of the early favorites, Anthony T. Castillo's Jess Famous Magic, made his career debut with a clear 2 1/2-length victory in the ninth West Texas Futurity trial. Daniel Cano trains the sorrel daughter of Jess Good Candy and $22,000 buy at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City.

Jess Famous Magic drew post 6 and will be ridden by Kevin Enriquez-Arenivas.
