$300,000 Filly Heads Strong Opening Session at Los Alamitos Equine Mixed Sale Saturday

CYPRESS, CA–OCTOBER 1, 2022–Taos River Ranch LLC paid $300,000 for Hip 111 Allways Remember, Saturday's opening session sale-topper at the 2022 Los Alamitos Equine Mixed Sale in Cypress, California.

Los Alamitos Equine Sale reported 98 of 115 yearlings, mixed stock, horses of racing age and broodmares offered in the opening session, sold for gross receipts of $2,879,200, a 5% increase over last year's opening session where 106 head brought $2,733,400,

Today's opening session enjoyed a 14% increase in average on Day 1 on  $29,318, compared to $25,787 on Day 1 2021. The median dipped slightly to $18,000 today compared to $20,000 last year's Day 1.

A sister to four Grade 1 winners Allways Remember is by leading sire Favorite Cartel from the AQHA Dam of Distinction and Ruidoso Derby(G1) winner Remember Me Rose. The extortionary daughter of leading sire Corona Cartel is the dam of 26 ROM, 20 winners and 13 blacktype runners.

Consigned by Burns Ranch, Agent, Allways Remember is a sister to Los Alamitos Winter Derby(G1) winner Powerful Favorite, Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity(G1) winner Bomb Cyclone, Golden State Futurity(G1) winner Runforyourlife and Ruidoso QH Futurity(G1) winner Cyber Monday.

David Hinkins paid $167,000 for Hip 57, Twice Over, a son of Favorite Cartel from the Check Em Out Mare Look Her Over. Edward C. Allred consigned the half-brother to world champion He Looks Hot and 10 other black type.

The third yearling to break six-figures on Day 1 was Hip 112 Fraudster, a colt by Favorite Cartel also out of Remember Me Rose. La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC purchased the colt for $130,000 from Burns Ranch, Agent.

Saturday's high-selling broodmare was Hip 73 Look At Her, a stakes-placed Walk Thru Fire sister to world champion He Looks Hot. Cade Burns purchased the 8-year-old mare from Veronica Gail Kawananakoa for $100,000. Look At Her sold in foal to leading sire Apollitical Jess.

Taos River Ranch LLC was the leading buyer on day 1 with the one purchase for $300,000. David Hinkins had the one for $167,000 and Alex Castaneda purchased 11 head for $159,700.

Burns Ranch, Agent led all consignors and agents on day 1 with 29 head grossing $1,234,500. Edward C. Allred had 22 head sale for $673,000 and Veronica Gail Kawananakoa sold nine for $256,000.

Favorite Cartel was the leading yearling sire (by average with two or more sold) with 17 yearlings averaging $74,118. Walk Thru Fire had 2 for $45,000 and Mr Jess Perry say two yearlings average $26,000.

The second session gets underway on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. (PDT) with Session 1, Hips 126 through 194, yearlings, mixed stock and horses of racing age. The Second Session Sunday, Hips 195 through 213, is broodmares. Sunday's final session, Hip 214 thru 250, will be yearlings, mixed stock and horses of racing age.
