Dickey Bob Holds on to Win $15,000 Prairie Dash Stakes at Prairie Meadows

ALTOONA, IA–JULY 3, 2020–Dickey Bob earned his first stakes win of the year and the seventh of his career in the $15,000 Prairie Dash Stakes to open the Friday afternoon card at Prairie Meadows.

Dickey Bob ($8.00) and Berkley Packer covered the 250-yard distance in 12.997 to earn a 108 speed index. The pair broke well and maintained their speed to win by a neck over Mansory and Brett Birzer in second place. Both top two finishers were trained by Jason Olmstead.

The stakes win pushed the accomplished gelding’s career earnings to $216,729. He has 14 wins in 27 career starts; his multiple stakes wins include the Minnesota Futurity, Minnesota Derby and two editions of the Bob Morehouse Stakes at Canterbury Park.

Dickey Bob is owned and bred by Bruce and Judy Lunderborg in Minnesota, by Apollitical Jess and out of the stakes winning mare Paint Or More, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon.

Mansory gained ground and finished strong in second place with a 106 speed index. The Summer Run-owned gelding has two wins in his five starts in 2020 and is five for 22 lifetime. He is multiple stakes placed and represented the Midwest region in the Adequan Derby Challenge Championship (G3) at Albuquerque last October.

Mansory was bred in Texas by Bobby Cox, by Ivory James and out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Sinuous.

Jk Wildcat Red and Jorge Torres narrowly missed second place and earned a 105 speed index as the third place finisher in a fast race. Earlier this year, the One Dashing Eagle gelding finished second in the Mr Jet Moore (RG2) stakes at Remington; last summer, he qualified to the Keokuk Stakes (G3) at Prairie Meadows.

Jk Wildcat Red is trained by Kenny Laymon and is owned by Regina Laymon. He was bred in Oklahoma by Jk Running Horses LLC, out of Shaky Girl, by Embrujo FG.

Completing the field were Double Eagle, First of 15, Htr Miamor Tequila and Blaak Magic.
