OGDEN, UT—MAY 1, 2021—In the first stake of the day at Weber Downs on Saturday afternoon, fastest qualifier Her Apolitical Pyc returned to win the $14,765 Nevada Racing Circuit Non-Winners of Two Stakes (not black-type) by a neck over Winning Blood Mv.

Her Apolitical Pyc was the fastest from two trials held at Weber on April 18. Piloted by Oscar Cervantes and trained by Alvaro Torres, Her Political Pyc was bred in Utah by her owner, Darian Burt. The 4-year-old filly is by Apollitical Jess and is out of Her Painted Wagon, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon.

The final time for the 350-yard event was 17.754, giving the winner a 101 speed index.

With Saturday’s win, Her Apolitical Pyc is now three for 11 lifetime with nearly $15,000 earned. She is undefeated as a 4-year-old. As a 3-year-old, she won her trial for the KVN Corona Derby at Weber and placed second in the final.

Second-place finisher Winning Blood Mv was the second fastest qualifier after finishing second in his trial to Her Apolitical Pyc.

Nakia Ramirez had the call on the 3-year-old gelding for trainer Jay Pitcher and owners Kyle and Kelly Cook. He was bred in California by Paulo Otavio Freire MacEdo, by Apollitical Blood and out of the Separatist mare Take a Look.

Winning Blood Mv qualified to last year’s Bitterroot Futurity (G3) at Pocatello Downs and the Eye On Corona Virus Futurity at Laurel Brown.

Jess Golondrina and jockey Adrian Morales completed the trifecta. Jess Golondrina is a 3-year-old Colorado-bred filly trained by Eddie Arturo Ontiveros and owned by Edy Palacios and Arturo Ontiveros. She was bred by Kathy Hayes, by Jess Cuervo and out of BP First Down Policy, by First Down Dash.

Jess Golondrina was third in her trial and entered as the seventh fastest qualifier. She finished second in the Cherry Creek Futurity at Arapahoe last year.

Completing the field were Powerfultrain, Cancelled Flight, Sb Dosey Doe, Billy the Greight, Czech Me First, Transcendeur and Little O Man. Anip of Black Velvet and Devils cut were scratched.
