SHELBYVILLE, IN—JULY 24, 2021—Trainer Randy Smith entered the winner’s circle to greet Carter’s Law as the winner of the 19th running of the $131,600 Jaguar Rocket Futurity, but left with Paint Your Legacy, his other entrant, as the title winner. Ridden by Berkley Packer, Paint Your Legacy was moved up for the win following a disqualification.

Starting from the outside post 10, Paint Your Legacy was in mid pack early on as Carters Law and Sammy Mendez took control a few strides out of the gate. As the finish line neared, Paint Your Legacy extended his stride and moved up to finish second, just a neck ahead of Zack James and Shanley Jackson.

The win marked the second of his brief career for Paint Your Legacy in five career starts. Ironically, the son of PYC Paint Your Wagon was also moved up from second to the win in his trial of the Jaguar Rocket Futurity. Paint Your Legacy is owned by Duke Racing LLC and is a homebred from the Duke Family’s operation based in Whiteland, Ind.

Paint Your Legacy turned in two starts this spring at Remington before shipping back to his home base in Indiana and joining the Smith barn. His win in the Jaguar Rocket Futurity now places him over the $80,000 mark in career earnings for his connections.

The Duke Racing LLC homebred is by leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon from the Separatist mare Miss Inseperable.

Zack James, a son of multiple stakes sire Ivory James, was moved from third to second, earning $26,230 for owner-breeder Cleary Family. Trainer Ron Raper named Shanley Jackson to ride the brown colt out of Romped by Leader Of The Class. He has earned $37,9l70 in three starters.

Alberto Valadez' Mr Michel was placed third. He earned $13,160 for the effort. Claudio Barraza trains the Kiss My Hocks gelding out of Lovemelikethat by Likenothingyoueversaw. Bred by Mark Michel, Mr Michael was ridden by jockey Jose Beltran.

Completing the official order of finish were Carters Law, Stoney Beach, Tooyabooya Dhd, All Star Beach, Bye Bye B Train, Ravin Stone and Dna Secret Fighter.
