Ima Freighttrain B Breaks Maiden In NDQHRA Quarter Horse Futurity

FARGO, ND—JULY 23, 2021—In just his second career start, Ima Freighttrain B defeated fastest qualifier Runaway Separtely by half-a-length to get break his maiden in the $23,770 NDQHRA Quarter Horse Futurity at the North Dakota Horse Park on Saturday.

Under jockey David Pinon, Ima Freighttrain B drew clear in the final yards of the 350 yard event stopping the clock at :18.158 seconds, a 91 speed index into a 15 mph crosswind. He pocketed $11,885 for the win to bring his earnings total to $12,125.

Longtime trainer Robert Don Johnson saddled the brown gelding for owner-breeder Kari Buchholz. Ima Freighttrain B is out of the Carters Cartel mare Marmalades Cartel.

Runner-up Runaway Separtely earned $5,467 for finishing second. Mallory Norton saddled the North Dakota homebred son of multiple stakes sire Separate Interest for owner-breeder Randal Schwartz. Out of the Ocean Runaway mare Runaway In Style, Runaway Separtely has earned $9,555 in four career starts. Eric W. Snodgrass had the riding call.

Another homebred, Tres Red Roses, finished three-quarters back in third for owner-breeders Jeff and Eva Marie Hepper. Junior Dolphus trains the daughter of leading sire Tres Seis from the Dash For Perks mare Oh Honey Rose. Ridden by jockey Evan Herman, the bay filly earned $3,090 to bring her earnings total to $7,840. She broke her maiden two races back at Fair Meadows in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Favorite Rambler, Gold Medal Solider, Corona For An Eagle, Times Best Card and Shesa Royal Jess completed the field.
