Eyesa Special Gunner Sets New Track Record In $104,650 Wyoming Bred Futurity at Energy Downs

Eyesa Special Gunner Sets New Track Record In $104,650 Wyoming Bred Futurity at Energy Downs

GILLETTE, WY—JUNE 25, 2022— Second fastest qualifier Eyesa Special Gunner returned to Energy Downs 307 Racing today to set a new track record while winning the $104,650 Wyoming Bred Futurity.

Under jockey Uriel Dominguez, Special Gunner battled between foes to win by half-a-length His :15.034 clocking, with a 10 mph tailwind, equaled a 111 speed index and established a new track record for 300 yards. The previous Energy Downs' 300 yard track record of :15.037 was established on June 18, 2021, by Pyc Disco.

Trainer Jesse Villegas saddled the chestnut son of Eyesa Special Slim to his second win in four career starts for owner-breeder Broken Bones Cattle Company. The $52,235 winner's purse boosted the gelding's earnings total to $55,357.

Stablemate Yo Barely A Glance finished second to earn $20,390 for owner Juanita Villegas.  Also trained by Jesse Villegas, the daughter of Fiftyshadezofgrey was bred by Gerald F. Kaul. Luis Peralta rode the brown filly out of Barley A Secret by Brindis Por Cayenne.

Winner of the BHS Futurity Consolation on May 21st, Yo Barley A Glance has earned $27,450 off three wins in five starts.

Still a maiden from four starts, Gotta Have Corona D finished a neck back to pick up $10,465 for third. Another Villegas trainee, Gotta Have Corona D races for owner-breeder Steve W. Day. The son of Gotta Have Corona is out of Ms Makin Moves by Maknmoves. Valente Vorrath was riding.

Yo Morning Delite, Kcross Chilledcorona, Vvr My Friend Bill, Eyesa Special Moxy, Cd Wagon Of Secrets and Poninas completed the field.
