Daytona 1000 Too Fast To Keep Up For Rivals In Down With Debt

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—JUNE 25, 2022—Daniel Reynoso’s Daytona 1000 raced to the checkered flag in impressive fashion, as she led from gate to wire to win the $17,5000 in the Down With Debt Handicap by two lengths on Saturday at Los Alamitos.

Ridden by Oscar Peinado for trainer Jaime Gomez, the Corona Cartel filly was picking up her second straight win and this one could not have been any easier.

Bred by Balgo Racing Team, Daytona 1000 had a ¾ length lead right after the start and then increasing her lead with each stride in route to her easy win.

The filly went on to win the 330-yard race in a time of :16.69, while earning $9,625. This was her fifth career win from 10 starts and her total earnings now stand at $41,980. She’s won four of seven starts this year.

Ed Allred’s Lovely Evening, the Autumn Handicap winner last year, earned $3,938 for running second. She is a daughter of Seperate Interest from the Corona Cartel mare Moonlight Corona. Scott Willoughby conditions with Jesus Ayla riding.

Bruce and Jill Thompson’s Corona Cartel filly Run By Your Cartel finished third. Juan Alleman trains the 3-year-old from the Apollitical Jess mare Run By You.

World Famous Mia, Rumorsa, Being Difficult and Hitters Count completed the field.
