Dollar Bill Dominates Sam Houston Juvenile on Saturday

HOUSTON, TX–JUNE 3, 2023–Grade 2-placed Dollar Bill got his first career stakes win on Saturday when he rolled to a dominating 1-1/2 length win in the $51,315 Sam Houston Juvenile at Sam Houston Race Park.

Dollar Bill drew away from the field under jockey Jose Herbert while completing the 330 yards in :15.647 seconds, a 106 speed index into a 5 mph headwind. It was the third win four starts for the son of champion Kiss My Hocks.  Dollar Bill's only loss was a second-place effort in the $339,046 Louisiana Downs Futurity(G2) on March 25.

Juan Diaz, Jr. trains the $39,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate for owner Celeste Martinez. Tyler and Naia Graham bred the gelding in Texas from the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Jakes Painted Wagon.  The $13,855 Juvenile winner's purse boosted Dollar Bill's earnings mark to $79,293.

Another Tyler Graham homebred and TQHA Sale's graduate by leading sire Kiss My Hocks, Hock Tree Special, finished second for owner Jessica Mendez.  Daniel Luna conditions the $55,000 sales grad from the Pyc Paint your Wagon mare Lamont Lady. Jockey Luis Vivanco rode the four-time starter who was also a finalist in the Louisiana Downs Futurity(G2) and has earned $19,944.

Line Drive Dash, son of champion and champion sire Tempting Dash, was a head back to earn $7,698 for third.  The $82,000 TQHA Yearling graduate, who races for owner Alan Duran, is also from the Juan Diaz, Jr. barn. Nestor Duran had the riding call on the gelding out of Shazooms Pop Pop by Shazoom.

Just A Piloto, No La Deja, Chilitas, Mr Prize B and Cowgurl Up completed the field. Dashin Hocks and Jb Kool James were both scratched.
