HIALEAH, FL—FEBRUARY 28, 2016—Ridden by reigning AQHA Racing Champion jockey Ricky Ramirez, Moonin The Eagle broke his own track record Sunday when he defeated Fly Thru The Fire by three-quarters in the $150,000 Sam Abbey Memorial Invitational Championship at Hialeah Park. Ill Stop The World finished 1¾-lengths back for third.
Saddled by trainer Yoani Abreu, Moonin The Eagle rallied over the 440 yards in :21.192 seconds to earn a 105 speed index and establish a new Hialeah Park track record. The son of leading sire One Famous Eagle set the previous record of :21.201 on January 17, 2016 when he won the $204,310 Hialeah Maturity.

Vessels Stallion Farm, LLC bred the half-brother to 2015 AQHA Racing Champion Aged Horse Moonist from the champion First Down Dash mare Your First Moon.
Stakes winner Fly Thru The Fire hopped at the start but had a good kick under jockey Rodrigo Vallejo to finish second for owner King Camden Running Horses, Inc. Judd Kearl conditions the 5-year-old son of Walk Thru Fire out of Babe On The Fly, by Strawfly Special. The $28,500 runner-up check boosted the sorrel's earnings to $78,035.
Ill Stop The World, a graded stakes-placed son of leading sire FDD Dynasty picked up $15,000 for third. Carolina Gaytan saddled with Omar Reyes getting the riding call aboard the New Mexico bred from the Special Task mare You Light Up My Life. Bred by Ron and Kati Hanna, Ill Stop The World has earned $237,222.
Tf Cajun Cartel, Habits Secret, Daytona B, Parti Favor, Mo Zoomo and Dynasty Of Habits completed the field.
