BOSSIER CITY, LA-JANUARY 27, 2018-The $15,000 Swift Stakes at a distance of 350 yards was so popular with horsemen that it was split into two divisions this year.
In the first division of the Swift Stakes, Fast N Famous Eagle ($8.60), owned and trained by Joe Davis, prevailed under jockey Rolando Pina in :17.587 seconds.
The 5-year-old son of One Famous Eagle ran second to Scoopies Leaving You in the Harrah's Dash Stakes earlier this month. The well-traveled gelding shipped to Louisiana from Indiana Grand.
Ldn Jessasaltydog with jockey Antonio Alberto aboard, ran second, followed by Ww Showtime.
In his first start of the season, Ldn Jessasaltydog picked up $3,000 for owner Rene Amaro. Carlos Saldivar conditions the Im Dalaw gelding out of Jessa Blue Crystal by Jess Louisiana Blue. Antonio Alberto was aboard the Larry Nixon Louisiana-bred.
Also, a Louisiana-bred, third-place finisher Ww Showtime races for owner Victoria Galindo and trainer Telma Janet Loya. Everardo Rodriguez rode the First Prize Perry 6-year-old horse out of Ww Family Tradition by Strawfly Special. Bred by Darrel Williams the sorrel picked up $1,650 for his effort.
Zenergetic, Tf Jess A Leader, Potus and Ardor completed the field. Strong Guns and Beaus Famous were early scratches.
Swift Stakes Division-2
The second division produced the fastest clocking of the afternoon with A Kool Secret ($9.40) moving swiftly over the center of the track to win by a neck in :17.397 seconds.

The graded-stakes placed runner is trained by Josue Huitron, picking up his fourth win from 16 starts. The $9,000 winners' purse boosted his bankroll to more than $95,000.
Eye N Capo, the Oklahoma-bred son of Capo de Capi, ran second under Damian Martinez. Trainer Josue Ponce conditions the graded stakes winner for owner Ruben Garcia Montemayor. Bred in Oklahoma by Dee and Betty Raper, the 4-year-old brought his bankroll to nearly $378,000 after pocketing $3,000 today. He is out of the Mr Eye Opener mare Satisfeyen.
Hr Chatterwagon ran fourth, followed by Heisasgoodasheis, Buds World, Spectre Rt and Desdemona Rambler.
Louisiana Downs Dates and Post Times
The 2018 Quarter Horse racing season at Harrah's Louisiana Downs got underway on Saturday, January 6. The 46-day meet includes 12 stakes highlighted by the first official championship for 2-year-olds, the $100,000-added Mardi Gras Futurity on March 17. Live racing will take place Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with a 1:00 p.m. (Central) post time and will continue through March 21.
