RUIDOSO, NM—AUGUST 17, 2019—Following a strong opening session on Friday, Saturday's closing session of the 2019 Ruidoso New Mexico Bred QH Yearling Sale featured three high-sellers who broke the six-figure mark.
The sale enjoyed across the board increases in both gross and average for the two night-event.
From a catalog of 170 state-bred yearlings this year, Ruidoso Horse Sale Company reported 151 horses sold for gross receipts of $2,903,100, representing a 21% gain over the $2,407,400 for 145 horses sold a year ago. The average rose 16% to $19,226 compared to $16,603 in 2018. The median remained even at $11,000 for both years.
Stan Sigman and Johnny Trotter paid $117,000 for the sale's high-seller, Hip 174 Flash Me To The Moon, a First Moonflash colt who sold in the second QH session. Crystal Springs Farm consigned the half-brother to stakes winner Fyre Wall from a sister to two-time champion Noconi. The second dam is former Broodmare of the Year My Dashing Lady by Dash For Cash.
Hip 168 Get Ripped, a sister to 2019 $3 million dollar All American Futurity(G1) fastest qualifier Mister Riptide was the second high-seller at $115,000. Martin Ibarra purchased the daughter of multiple stakes Woodbridge from leading New Mexico breeder MJ Farms. The chestnut filly is out of the stakes winning Ocean Runaway mare Ms Riptide.
Hip 202 Ripp, a Big Daddy Cartel gelding out of the aforementioned Ms Riptide, was the third high-seller at $105,000 on Saturday to Gene Bradley and Tod Bradeley. breeder MJ Farms was again the consignor to the half-brother to Mister Riptide.
Gene Bradley and Tod Bradley were the sale's leading buyers with three purchases totaling $201,000. Martin Ibarra had two for $160,000 and David Valdez signed three tickets for $142,000.
Double LL Farms, Agent was the sale's leading consignor or agent with 55 head crossing $1,002,400. MJ Farms sold 20 yearlings for $878,000 and Rockin' S Racing Stable had 20 yearlings for $140,000.
Woodbridge was the sales' leading yearling sire by average (with two or more sold), getting five head for $48,300. Big Daddy Cartel had 21 yearlings average $32,090 and champion First Moonflash had 37 yearlings average $24,178.
