Daddysqueenofalice Surprises In $340,666 Mountain Top New Mexico Bred Quarter Horse Futurity

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–JUNE 18, 2023–Let go at 13-1 Daddysqueenofalice raced to her first career win when she defeated post time favorite Call Me Jessiecartel by one-length in the $340,666 Mountain Top New Mexico Bred Quarter Horse Futurity(RG2) Sunday afternoon at the Ruidoso Downs.

Daddysqueenofalice broke sharp under champion jockey Ricky Ramirez then took advantage of a bumping incident involving others leaving the gate to clear the field from the inside path as she completed the 350 yards in :17.582 seconds, a 91 speed index into an 11 mph headwind.

The daughter of leading New Mexico sire Big Daddy Cartel entered the final off her maiden trial effort where she finished a respectable second to New Mexico Breeders' Futurity fastest qualifier Chicka Boom Babe in her career debut.

Trainer James J. Gonzales, II conditions Daddysqueenofalice  for owners Triple R Racing Stables LLC and Kim Middleton. MJ Farms bred the $180,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate from their champion and champion producer Alice K White by First Down Dash.

Daddysqueenofalice earned $143,080 to boost her earning to $144,680 from two starts this season.

Runner-up Call Me Jessiecartel picked up $61,320 for his second-place effort. Trainer Eric Valenzuela named jockey Sergio Becerra, Jr. to ride the Jess A Chicks gelding for owners Empire Racing and Pavon Racing LLC.

Mike Abraham bred the $23,000 Ruidoso New Mexico-Bred Yearling Sale graduate from the Corona Cartel mare Lilly Cartel. Also a finalist in the New Mexican Spring Futurity(RG2), Call Me Jessiecartel has earned $72,495 in four starts.

Valenzuela also sent out third-place finisher Over Da Edge for owners Miguel Gallegos and Mauricio Gallegos. Champion jockey Francisco Calderon rode the Eye Am King filly who was a neck back to earn $34,067.

MJ Farms bred the $24,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate from the Separatist mare Da Edge. Also a finalist in the New Mexican Spring Futurity(RG2), Over Da Edge has earned $46,352.

Kelly Isa Chick, Untangled Queen, Patriotic View, Black Jack Patriot, Da Edge Of Gray, Chicka Boom Babe and Bigg Shades Of Gray completed the field.
