"A record-setting 438 Accredited Texas-Bred yearlings were originally consigned to this year’s sale," TQHA Director of Racing Scott Sherwood said. "Following the withdrawal of three entries, a total of 435 yearlings will pass through the sale ring during the two-day event, which returns to The Freeman Coliseum Expo Hall in San Antonio, Texas, on Friday and Saturday, July 25–26."

Hips 1 through 219 will be offered Friday, while hips 220 through 438 are slated for Saturday. Start time for both sessions is 10:00 a.m. (CDT).

In addition to the yearlings, each sale day will open with the auctioning of four 2026 stallion breedings, with proceeds benefitting the TQHA PAC fund. Stallions represented include Dulce Sin Tacha, Eye On The Card, Gotagogh, Hawkeye, Kiss My Hocks, Kj Mucho Macho Man, Politiko, and This Is An Eagle.

The 2025 catalog features an impressive sire roster, with offspring from 20 of the top 25 current leading sires and six of the top ten all-time leading sires. The quality continues on the dam side, with numerous entries out of graded stakes-winning and graded stakes-producing mares.

All yearlings that pass through the sale ring will be eligible for the $200,000-added 2026 TQHA Sale Futurity (RG1), which will be contested next July.

Additionally, many yearlings are already nominated to the $75,000-added 2026 Texas Breeders Futurity, which debuts next year at Sam Houston Race Park.

Trials for this new race are scheduled for late April, with finals set for mid-May. Catalog pages will note “Texas Breeders Futurity” in the engagements section for those already nominated.

Sale week festivities begin Thursday, July 24 at 4:00 p.m. with the annual Consignors and Buyers Bar-B-Que, free to all attendees.

That evening kicks off three nights of live Quarter Horse racing at Retama Park, running Thursday through Saturday with a 6:15 p.m. (CDT) first post each night.

Friday’s Summer Showdown program will feature seven Accredited Texas-Bred stakes races offering more than $350,000 in combined purses. Saturday’s racing card will highlight the finals of the $200,000-added TQHA Sale Futurity (RG1) and the $100,000-added Retama Park Derby.
