Race record: Apollitical Blood won the 10th heat on the second day of trials. The colt broke his maiden on second asking, in the June 8 trials to the Ed Burke Million Futurity (G1). He came into the All American trials off a fifth-place finish in the $945,000 final on June 22.
Freshman sire Apollitical Jess is a Grade 1-winning 7-year-old stallion by champion Mr Jess Perry and is one of three winners out of the champion Apollo (TB) mare Apollitical Time. A $904,202 earner who scored in three Grade 1 and seven other stakes, Apolllitical Time has produced the earners of $1.4 million and was the 2010 broodmare of the year.
An earner of $1,399,831, Apolllitical Jess scored in two Grade 1 races, the 2010 Champion Of Champions and Los Alamitos Super Derby. He also finished second in the Grade 1Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity and the All American Derby. The stallion has sired 15 winners and the earners of more than $400,000 from 58 starters, including Great Grace, who on April 19 finished third in the Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Derby (RG3) won by All American qualifier Im A Fancy PYC.
Apollitical Blood is one of two starters, both of which are winners, out of the Grade 2-placed Fishers Dash mare Brazilian Dasher ($98,060). Brazilian Dasher Dynasty is out of the Grade 1-winning Tolltac mare Dinastia Toll BRZ, who has produced the earners of more than $1.69 million, including champion FDD Dynasty ($1,173,001) who sired All American qualifier Thunderball B.
Bruce and Jill Thompson have bred three starters.
