Favorite Cartel Filly In Closing Session Ties For Sale-Topper at $475,000

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–SEPTEMBER 21, 2024–The impeccably bred Rose Of Rosarita brought a final bid of $475,000 in Saturday's closing session of 46th annual Heritage Place Yearling Sale to tie Friday's topper Durango MC (see related story) as the 2024 high-seller.

The final session of the 2024 Quarter Horse Yearling sale averaged $37,069 on horses sold. Overall, the 3-day sale average was $37,260, down 8% compared to 2023," Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said late Saturday. "However, the demand for quality and pedigree remained strong throughout the sale, and 87% of the horses offered this weekend were marked sold."

The sales company reported that the 711 horses sold, out of the 879 offered, brought gross receipts of $24,489,800. The sale's average was $37,257, and the median was $22,000.

"We look forward to seeing everyone at the Fall Mixed Sale in a few weeks, October 31st – November 2nd, where we have another great offering of Quarter Horse Yearlings and a tremendous mixed session. "

LCI LLC paid $475,000 for the co-sale topper Hip 708 Rose Of Rosarita, a daughter of leading sire Favorite Cartel from the AQHA Dam of Distinction Remember Me Rose by Corona Cartel. Consigned by Burns Ranch, LLC, the filly is a sister to five Grade 1 winners, including three-time champion Cyber Attack, Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity(G1) winner Bomb Cyclone, Los Alamitos Winter Derby(G1) winner Powerful Favorite, and Ruidoso QH Futurity(G1) winner Cyber Monday.

Red Sea Racing Stables LLC paid $265,000 for Saturday's second high-seller, Hip 758 Holms. Marty Powers, Agent for William E. Smith, consigned the full brother to Ruidoso QH Futurity(G1) winner Apolltical Chad. The son of leading sire Apollitical Jess from the Shazoom mare Fast Prize Tracy. This is the family of champion 2-year-old filly Dark NME.

Hip 735 Mr Hocks received a final bid of $260,000 from Cad Beus, becoming the third highest-seller on Day 3. Marty Powers, Agent for Flag Ranch LLC, consigned the Kiss My Hocks colt out of Grade 1 producer Mr Perrys Wine by Mr Jess Perry. Mr Hocks is half-brother to Remington Park Championship(G1) winner Jess Good Wine.

Rachuan Suarez MVZ was the sale's leading buyer, with 26 yearlings totaling $752,500. Ray Whitmire paid $537,000 for three yearlings. LCI LLC had one purchase for $475,00, and Valeriano Racing Stables LLC had one for $475,000.

Marty Powers, Agent for Flag Ranch LLC, was the sale's leading consignor and/or agent, with 20 yearlings bringing gross receipts of $2,248,000. Lazy E Ranch, Agent sold 50 head for $1,608,200, and Bobby D. Cox had 24 yearlings bring $1,450,00.

Apollitical Jess was the leading sale sire (by average, two or more sold), with 36 yearlings averaging $102,083. Escondido Beach had two yearlings average of $100,000, and Favorite Cartel sold 39 yearlings for an $84,308 average.

Love The Way You Fly was the sale's leading first sale-crop sire, with two yearlings averaging $37,000.
