SELMA, TX–AUGUST 8, 2026–Karma Cha Ching continued her winning streak Saturday night at Retama Park, posting the fastest qualifying time from three trials for the $100,000 TQHA Sires' Cup Derby. The three-year-olds competed at 400 yards.
Karma Cha Ching and jockey Nestor Duran won the second trial in :20.042, earning a 98 speed index. The sorrel filly dueled throughout and dug in through the finish to defeat Chloes Man by a neck.
Trained by Esteban Rubio, Karma Cha Ching is a homebred for owner and breeder Sarah Huskey. She is sired by Pa Cha Ching and out of the Tinys First Corona mare Marthas First Corona.
The victory marked the fourth consecutive win for Karma Cha Ching, who entered the trials off back-to-back stakes victories in the La Villita Stakes and Sam Houston Oaks. She now owns a record of 12-5-1-0 with earnings of $133,302.
Chloes Man and jockey Victor Urieta Jr. finished a game second behind Karma Cha Ching to secure the second-fastest qualifying time of :20.077, earning a 97 speed index. After breaking seventh, the gelding quickly moved into contention and battled Karma Cha Ching before finishing a neck behind the winner.
Trained by Oscar Nunez for owner Rudy Rudolfo Munoz, Chloes Man was bred by Mary Thompson and is a $50,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate. The gelding is sired by This Is An Eagle and out of the winning Walk Thru Fire mare R Imperial Princess.
Still in search of his first stakes victory, Chloes Man has compiled a record of 8-2-2-1 with earnings of $23,305.
Shes Ec To Tempt and jockey Victor Urieta Jr. captured the final trial to post the third-fastest qualifying time of :20.082. The brown filly earned a 97 speed index while defeating favored Di Kvn Waven by a half-length. After breaking sixth, Shes Ec To Tempt moved into contention and prevailed following a duel and driving finish.
Jose Garcia trains Shes Ec To Tempt for K K Horse Racing. Bred in Texas by Francisco Javier Garza, she was a $23,000 repurchase at the TQHA Yearling Sale. She is sired by champion Tempting Dash and out of the stakes-winning Ec Jet One mare Kas Shes Ec. Her female family traces to world champion Merganser ($1,373,704).
Jlc Show Time won the opening trial under Raul Ramirez Jr., stopping the clock in :20.228 for a 93 speed index. The bay filly dueled with Del Rey Bar before prevailing by a half-length in a driving finish.
Trained by Jesus Huitron Lira for owner Esteban G. Lopez, Jlc Show Time was bred by John Louis Chamberlain. She is sired by Ss Samson and out of the One Sweet Jess mare One Sweet Master.
The $100,000 TQHA Sires' Cup Derby final is scheduled for August 22 at Retama Park.
