FARMINGTON, NM—APRIL 25, 2021—Getting his first stakes win, Mias Irish Dynasty upset a strong field at odds of 42-1 in the $36,100 La Plata Stakes at SunRay Park. Under jockey Jimmy Coates the gelding defeated second post time favorite Putinical by neck in a blanket finish that saw the top six horses finishing a neck off each other.

Owned-and-trained by Felipe Rivera, Sr., Mias Irish Dynasty completed the 400 yards in :19.362 seconds, equaling a 110 speed index with a 17 mph tailwind. It was the third career win in 12 starts for the 6-year-old son of multiple stakes sire Jr Dynasty Mountain.

Bred in Utah by Walker J. Finder, from the Strawflyin Buds mare Mias Runnin, Mias Irish Dynasty used the $21,660 winner's purse to nearly double his career mark to $44,516.

Putinical, a son of leading sire Apollitical Jess, picked up $7220 for her second-place effort. Beatriz Sanchez-Carrillo named jockey Hector Aldrete to ride the graded-placed 7-year-old from the Eyesa Special mare Kgb Agent Anna.

Racing for owner Pedro Carillo, Putinical was second in the Grade 1 Downs at Albuquerque Fall Championship in 2019 and third in 2018. Bred in Oklahoma by J. Garvin Kelly and Nancy Yearsley, Putinical has earned $252,910 off a record of eight wins in 32 starts.

Olaya Munoz Duarte's Rarin earned $3,610 for finishing third. Ivan Tafoya conditons the Inseperable 9-year-old out of Rare Kayoh by Rare Form. The multiple graded stakes winner was ridden by jockey Kevin Enriquez-Arenivas. Bred in Oklahoma by Kathleen O Matey, Rarin won the Higheasterjet Handicap(G2) at Ruidoso and the La Plata Stakes at SunRay Park in 2019.

Rarin is also the winner of the James Isaac Hobbs Stakes(G3) and Mighty Deck Three Stakes(RG3) and has earned $265,100.

Last year's Rainbow QH Derby(G1) winner and heavy post-time favorite Cers Final Try finished fourth.

Unrelentless One, Twelve Percent, Eric The Terrible, Saginaw Trail, Taking The Stage and A Separate Star completed the field. Jess Botticelli was scratched.
